Shayboarder Interview with “This Guy”
By Matt | July 1, 2009
A couple of weeks back I was interviewed by Shannon or “Shay” as she is known on the snow. Shay is a snowboarder who decided to take her love for the white stuff and blog it out so you can see it “Through Fembot Eyes”. (I actually know a Fembot and her name is Amy Purdy from Adaptive Action Sports!) She usually interviews only industry(snow) faces, but I was lucky enough to get a pass since longboards help snowboarders keep their edge in the offseason.
I answered these questions at 0200 after a long day of printing boards for you fools so my humor may be a little off. Check it out and make sure to comment on her blog so she knows we bring some followers, even my MOM commented. Gotta love that lady!

4,000 by the 4th!
By Matt | July 1, 2009
This is outside the realm of longboards, but this is something that is close to my heart. Some of you may not know this, but I served in the United States Air Force for 6 years flying on a specialized C130H. I served some time in Afghanistan and now I am a member of a veterans group called the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America or IAVA for short.
IAVA has only been in existence for a couple years, but has already made huge strides in getting the proper aid for Veterans like myself. I received a newsletter today with a new video attached with the same title as this blog article, 4,000 by the 4th. This is IAVA’s goal. To accumulate 4,000 views of this video before our Independence Day. Its a very well done piece and shows how a new breed of organization is using the internet and social networking to accomplish huge things that were once thought impossible.
Please check out this vid and help “us” get the 4,000 views we are looking for. Cheers and thanks in advance.

Central Park Race top finishers
By Mike | June 23, 2009
The conditions were beautiful for the Central Park Race and the top finishers completed the 6.5 mile loop with record times. Kaspar earned his crown again setting a 22 minute pace slightly ahead of last year’s top finisher Cory Wilder. Rat Rod Rider Mark Schaperow pushed strong for a notable 3rd place finish. The energy and respect at the finish line was strong. The city skaters shared moments and breathed heavy and watched the group complete the race. 100 plus riders attempted to be New York City’s finest race around the notorious Central Park Loop marking another successful year for city speed skating.
